ABSTRACT
This chapter discusses how proper hypnotic directives for heart attack or stroke victims have the potential to activate the autonomic nervous system thus reducing pulse rate and blood pressure. This includes how to use hypnotic communication with a cardiac patient at various levels of severity. This is followed by a discussion and sample approach on how one might best communicate with a stroke patient. The mnemonic CREDIBLE, used throughout the book, is applied to help understand the process used in hypnotic communication. An exercise at the end of the chapter offers a true/false quiz to help think about the concepts. The communication techniques are offered as an opportunity to facilitate the healing process only as an adjunct to support standard medical treatments. This focus allows anyone to augment their approach to include hypnotic communication while simultaneously performing the tasks of patient treatment.
