ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses how a first responder should use imagery while working with a patient on the scene of an emergency. The mnemonic CREDIBLE, used throughout the book, is applied to help understand the process used in hypnotic communication. The fifth letter of this word is the letter I, standing for images. Seven guidelines to help assure that your words evoke positive images in the unconscious mind are introduced. A true/false exercise at the end of the chapter offers thinking questions related to the chapter material. The communication techniques are offered as an opportunity to facilitate the healing process only as an adjunct to support standard medical treatments. This focus allows anyone to augment their approach to include hypnotic communication while simultaneously performing the tasks of patient treatment.
