ABSTRACT

This chapter continues in the footsteps of the previous chapter by mapping games that address difficult to represent neurodevelopmental disability in games against child development within the categories, cosmetic, incidental, or authentic. The chapter first looks at familiar children's story characters, Nemo's friend Dory who has difficulties with her short-term memory, and Winnie the Pooh's friend Piglet, who displays signs of anxiety. The children's games discussed next address neurodevelopmental disorders such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), the difficult to represent topic of autism, and games which may be disturbing to play that bring a sense of reality to disabilities that such as dementia.
