ABSTRACT

The concluding chapter reiterates the importance of understanding different risk perspectives and in particular the weaknesses of current risk processes when considering human biases. This is ever more pertinent in current times as we start to experience the first wave of the impacts of climate change on our water resources, whether this be via flooding or drought. Increasing urbanisation is placing a requirement on our cities to secure a water supply that can meet swollen populations while also ensuring sustainable urban practices. This requires our water practitioners to act in ways that have total regard for these populations by way of creating adaptability in our systems. By understanding the biases covered in this book, water practitioners can work to support processes that seek to encourage new and innovative methods in water management.
