ABSTRACT

Zelda directs a powerful production of Arthur Miller’s The Crucible with some of her favorite company members. The production tours to Israel, where an audience of Israelis and Palestinians find different meanings in the play than their Washington counterparts. Zelda wins Washington’s Helen Hayes Award for Outstanding Direction for the production, and her evolution as a director since her first years at Arena Stage is discussed. Narrators include Robert Westenberg, John Leonard Thompson, and Guy Bergquist.
