ABSTRACT

Zelda and her NYU students experience the September 11th attacks viscerally from their downtown New York location, and many of the traumatized young actors in her charge question their choice of a profession. She passionately conveys to them the importance of art in a time of darkness and guides all her students through the turbulent first decade of the 21st century. Having recently become a grandmother, Zelda’s relationship with her students becomes more maternal and familial, as she stays in this job she loves for as long as she is physically able to, finally stepping down from her position at nearly 84 years of age. Narrators include Maggie Siff, Bill Heck, Corey Stoll, Karen Pittman, and Ron van Lieu.
