ABSTRACT

Scales are used to measure the variable under study which includes comparison and ranking. The fundamentals of scale evaluation in a simple sense mean-making sure that our questionnaire is effective enough to measure the problem under study. Reliability and Validity are the tests related to the first point and Generalizability is related to the other. Split-half method performs by checking the results of one-half of a set of scaled items against the results from the other half of the scaled items. A good instrument should have these two key characteristics one, it should be consistent and two, it should be accurate. Multivariate procedures like factor analysis can be useful in establishing construct validity. A population is a complete collection of elements about which we wish to make some interpretation.
