Apart from the general blunder of having allied himself with his old enemies, Fox had other liabilities, which in turn affected Sheridan. One of these was the heir to the throne. The Prince of Wales had come of age, and Fox had always been anxious to keep in with the heir. The hope had been that when the King died, the Whig millennium would commence.
