ABSTRACT

The concluding chapter links the precious chapters and reflects on how the presidency became overburdened with responsibilities and at the same time reached a dangerous advanced institutional age. In the past, attaining and maintaining relevancy is what kept the office at the forefront of American politics. Over time the office expanded to adapt to modernity and new expectations. Currently, there are ominous signs that the survival struggle has become endemic, and the office is losing significance as an institution. The nation should not ignore the telling signs of decay.
