ABSTRACT
Chapter 6, which opens the second part of the book, introduces the concept of pearl diving as an apt metaphor for a pivotal aspect of education, namely the choosing of those objects of the world we deem relevant and interesting enough to capture the attention of the new generation. It discusses this with a starting point in the ideas of Hannah Arendt and Walter Benjamin.
