ABSTRACT

Success can be defined as ‘the accomplishment of one's goals’. This concept is often synonymous with achievement, fame, fortune, goal attainment and the like. Plans also need to be well defined, aligned with the current state, have a start and stop date, and have responsibility assigned to the appropriate leadership. The business unit's successes were directly attributed to several conditions. One, leaders establish a cohesive work environment where trust was the norm and expectation of each team member. The trust foci included everyone contributing to success, excellence being the norm and a safe place for the team to succeed and fail. Success was predicated on and thrived in a solidified environment built on trust. When self-interests and ego override the team spirit, the side winder effect appears. The keys to success are building cohesive teams, cultivating trust, winning together, measuring outcomes, validating wins and having a good process.
