ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses the evolution of training and coaching in the modern era, often called Training and Coaching 3.0. The chapter begins by exploring the meaning of training as a pathway for learning and the different theories and psychological processes associated with it. The concept of experiential learning, as proposed by David Kolb, is highlighted as a fundamental aspect of teaching and training. Then it delves into the significant changes in training methods and tools driven by technological innovations and the recent global emergency. Online training, particularly E-learning, is presented as a dynamic and flexible approach that has become the norm, allowing for interactive courses and reaching a larger audience while reducing costs. The emergence of virtual reality (VR) as a training tool is also discussed, showcasing its adaptability and effectiveness in creating realistic simulations for various fields such as clinical psychology, military training, sports, and corporate settings. Next, the chapter focuses on two critical aspects: soft skills and how to develop them through virtual reality—analyzing the benefits and how to achieve innovative and qualitatively superior training. Finally, after devoting a few pages to hard skills training, it concludes with an introduction to VR and artificial intelligence (AI) training.
