ABSTRACT

The UN has grown into an international organization to represent hope to humanity for peace and progress. It is important even though it is not the solution to every issue. They assist the States in matters of war and peace and seek cooperation to improve our living conditions. Countries are in conflicting situations with each other because each gives priority to their selfish interests and exhibits superiority over others. That necessarily should not end up in wars but could be sorted out with dialogues and discussions with peaceful outcomes. The UN is supra-national but certainly does not exercise authority over its member countries. The countries have lately realized the necessity for cooperation and collective actions but realizing and doing, in reality, are two different things in reality. This chapter discusses various organizations, agencies, programs, funds, commissions, and departments under the United Nations.
