ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses religion, moral instruction, social control and school prayer; Horace Mann and the school’s role in reducing crime; the 2020 U.S. Department of Education Guidelines for School Prayer and Religious Texts; health and sex education controversies; moral values and sex education; school values: LGBTQIA+ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and questioning sexual orientation); school crime: student violence; bullying and cyberbullying; promoting national health: nutrition and school lunch programs; and promoting national health: drug and alcohol abuse.
