ABSTRACT

Chapter 4 mainly sorts out the debate between moralist and non-moralist interpretations of Marx’s thought. The understanding and debate concerning Marx and the theory of justice have expanded from political economy to the field of social history. On the one hand, the non-moralist interpretation, based on the basic principles of historical materialism, emphasizes Marx’s criticism and rejection of morality. On the other hand, the moralist interpretation pays more attention to distinguishing the multiple meanings of concepts such as morality in Marx’s text, emphasizing the compatibility of Marx’s thought and moralism.
