ABSTRACT

Chapter 5 focuses on developing as a reflective practitioner of teaching. It discusses the importance of reflection on improving aspects of inclusion and equity within one’s courses, provides means and resources for self-reflection, and highlights the importance and mechanisms for acquiring feedback from students. This includes sharing of “How’s Class Going?”, a student feedback form focused on diversity, equity, and inclusion based on what was learned from a national survey of college students on the topic. The chapter concludes with suggestions on how an instructor can make their reflection and acquired feedback actionable. Throughout the chapter, reflection questions are posed for the reader to consider.
