ABSTRACT

This chapter discusses how instructors can obtain meaningful feedback on their inclusive teaching efforts by having their courses observed. The focus is on the usage of the Protocol for Advancing Inclusive Teaching (PAITE), which categorizes the teaching approaches of an instructor in a data-driven manner. The instructor behaviors on the PAITE align with a variety of practices described by students in previous chapters as being welcoming and equitable that their inclusive instructors implement. Also presented are other instruments that can support an instructor’s growth in monitoring their approaches for creating inclusive learning environments. This chapter disrupts the notion that inclusive teaching approaches cannot be observable and describes how various tools can provide instructors with meaningful feedback on their teaching practices.
