ABSTRACT

UndocuBlack students encounter unique challenges to higher education. Not only do they face the institutional, structural, and legal barriers that all undocumented students experience, they also face barriers related to invisibility. This chapter first addresses invisibility as a concept; then, it positions invisibility within the current literature. Following the literature discourse, the chapter shares the invisibility perspectives of the participants. Finally, it provides a discussion of the implications of invisibility, centered around the lack of advocacy and overcriminalization of undocuBlack immigrants.
