ABSTRACT

W elcome to Building a Pathway for Student Learn-ing: A How-To Guide to Course Design. This book emerged from the course design retreat we have conducted since 2008 with faculty on our home campuses. We always begin the retreat with an icebreaker so that attendees can become more familiar with us and other faculty participants. Given the asynchronous nature of printed books, conducting such an icebreaker isn’t possible here, so a simple welcome will have to suffice. We’re excited that you’ve decided to join us, and we sincerely hope you and the students in your courses will benefit from the experience.
