ABSTRACT

This chapter addresses coordination of the strategic organizational infrastructure for diversity. Measures of pervasiveness evaluate micro aspects in terms of the extent to which the infrastructure is operationalized across a campus, and measures of integration evaluate the overall coordination of the infrastructure. The pervasiveness of diversity leadership across a college or university will benefit from grassroots activism by empowered groups, notably the faculty. The faculty member, trying to engage the students in comparative experiences, also agrees but wants the individual students to move from one facility to another, helping at a different one each week during the semester. A common practice at many institutions is to pool funds across units to allow for a wider range of programmatic offerings. Many institutions have created diversity and inclusion taskforces or commissions composed of faculty, administrators, staff, and students.
