ABSTRACT

This chapter demonstrates how to calculate step-by-step the material, professional, and social equity grades of the Contingent Labor Conditions Score, which is designed as an assessment tool for campus leaders who wish to track and improve labor practices for non-tenure-track faculty. It contains examples and explanations of how to calculate the overall material equity grade. The chapter contains instructions and examples for calculating the three sub-parts of professional opportunity, how to survey contingent faculty to arrive at the professional identity score, and how to calculate the overall professional equity grade. It contains explanations of how to calculate gender equity, racial equity, and the overall social equity grade for the institution in question.
