ABSTRACT

This chapter defines the roles of virtual instructor as a course designer and student engager and focuses on how to provide an engaging virtual space specifically in a synchronous session. It focuses on the many ideas of how to keep students engaged during a synchronous session. Higher education has been transformed, and students will start to see technology integrated into their classes in intentional ways that will differentiate their experiences. With Google Forms, teachers could create a series of questions and invite students to respond to those questions during a synchronous session. Online whiteboards allow both teachers and students to share information in real time in a manner like how information might be presented on a whiteboard in the physical classroom. Zoom has an online whiteboard feature, but if teachers wanted students to have access to their own whiteboard, Whiteboard.fi is a good option.
