ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the role of the virtual instructor as a lifelong learner and knowledge sharer. Virtual learning and teaching can help us to collaborate with others, have access to information easier and be able to share this information with others easier. Virtual environments can increase our flexibility and provide our learners with the same flexibility and access. Professional development is about continuing and refining pedagogy; it is a process rather than an outcome. Faculty were also asked what they like about the book club and why they attended. Classroom observations can be a key strategy to improving teaching and learning, provided they are conducted in an appropriate manner. By observing others in the virtual classroom, we may be able to identify gaps in our own practice and then improve our teaching with the ideas we get from the observations.
