ABSTRACT

This chapter posits that twenty-first-century universities must develop intentional, high-quality pathways from the community colleges to university graduation. That task should not be left entirely to the community colleges. Two-year college experts like Pamela L. Eddy (2010) recognize that “community colleges have become the nexus of educational partnerships forming what policy makers envision as seamless educational pathways from kindergarten through baccalaureate” (p. 3). But the community colleges cannot be expected to create these pathways alone. University leaders must accept responsibility and work in active partnership with community college colleagues.
