The most important part of representing brand online is keeping in mind that who people are online is the person whom they have chosen to be. Although the term brand can be a turnoff for many academics, the concept is becoming more and more important as the idea of online professional presence has become increasingly solidified. Some platforms can lie relatively dormant and require infrequent updates whereas other platforms will demand that people engage daily to get all the benefits of that platform. An important thing to keep in mind is that people engagement online will probably be more time-consuming in the beginning when they are just learning a new platform. Many platforms also offer an image-cropping feature so people can adjust their image once it is uploaded. Taglines are especially useful on platforms like Twitter where people bio statement is required to be shorter.
