ABSTRACT

Broadly speaking, an institution’s constellation is a set of consistent educational strategies, and of organizational foundations and ways in which the institution manages its interactions with the wider world in order to sustain those strategies. In most institutions, many constellation elements align with Instruction assumptions. The element of the framework is the notion that a paradigm—a consistent set of assumptions about learning and how best to support it—can be used to align elements of a constellation so they will support each other. The right organizational foundations can help institutions scale and sustain Integrative educational strategies. Faculty roles and rewards ought to focus more on faculty contributions to quality, access, and affordability. Both roles and rewards ought to recognize that faculty working in a team can sometimes make contributions to 3fold gains that isolated individuals cannot, and that some of the most important outcomes are meaningful only when they’re cumulative.
