ABSTRACT

Implementation is the process by which a typical institution begins to intentionally apply something resembling our framework to achieve 3fold gains. Comparatively few institutions have begun intentionally creating a constellation for achieving 3fold gains. The goals of quality of learning, equitable access, and stakeholder affordability are too broad and vague to put an entire institution into motion, but galvanizing goals can be created within those categories. Institutional shifts toward more Integrative constellations are unlikely to get very far without periodic prompting and support from senior leaders. Most of the best leaders have a habit of working through coalitions of people who don’t report to them; that’s perhaps the biggest difference between the best leaders and average ones. To study the influence of a constellation, it can help to check for relationships between changes in the constellation and changes in quality, access, and affordability. Affordability is even harder to study than quality or access.
