ABSTRACT

This chapter explores some ways to tweak the wider world so that it encourages the Integrative pursuit of 3fold gains on a national scale. Many students in doctoral programs, even now, may have had high school and undergraduate education more aligned with Instruction than Integrative assumptions. More importantly, these candidates get little or no formal education about student learning and how institutions work because, it’s assumed, they can pick up informally what they need to know. One way to get better candidates is to recruit people who are already prepared for the distinctive roles of transformative leaders. Faculty and staff who want to prepare themselves for future job searches could benefit from substantial programs of professional education. Some new communities of transformation could provide mutual assistance among institutions exploring the potential of pursuing 3fold gains. Others could help local innovators support each other in implementing a single family of educational strategies or organizational foundations or interactions with the wider world.
