ABSTRACT

The basic ideas the authors will encounter are illustrated best by vision, and once they see how they see, it is easy to extend those concepts to the other senses. In this chapter the authors will talk mostly about the sensing part of this process, the part that proceeds to integration and meaning. When they try to help people learn, they want them to 'get the picture' Thus, they will begin their discussion of the sensory brain with vision. Whether they are an expert or a novice, our brains basically sense the same things. When they realize the centrality of images, it isn't hard to understand why they are by far the easiest things for the human brain to remember. They have to decide what are the best examples of the things they believe to be most important.
