ABSTRACT

Nearly every college and university includes critical thinking in their student learning outcomes and vision statements. Employers list critical thinking as one of the skills they seek in employees. Interdisciplinary research offers students multiple ways of thinking. For example, historians think differently from sociologists, artists, or scientists, and when students do research that includes more than one discipline, they can develop a broader range of thinking skills. Thinking from the perspective of several disciplines provides more options for addressing research questions and solving problems.
