ABSTRACT

This book is the second of a two-volume set dealing with the organization and administration of colleges and universities. Volume I addressed the important, continuing issues facing leaders of all organizations. On a rather predictable basis, organizational leaders will encounter challenges associated with external environments, internal organizational design, bureaucratic procedures, work roles, worker motivation, groups and teams, and organizational culture. In Volume II, we turn to somewhat more dynamic conditions of organizations—conditions that arise less predictably and that often challenge the status quo. Here, we examine conflict, power, decision making, organizational learning, strategy, assessments of effectiveness, change, and leadership.
