ABSTRACT

Angelica came to the United States when she was three years old. She grew up in a one-bedroom apartment with her parents and her sister. She is the first member of her family to graduate from high school and go to college; her mother has a sixth-grade education, and her father finished the eighth grade. Angelica’s drive wavered when she first learned she was undocumented. She felt that her prospects of going to college were ruined. Angelica had always been an excellent student in high school. Angelica has always found time for volunteer activities that help the community. Despite her lack of financial assistance, Angelica continues her academic excellence at her current university. She is enrolled in the honors program, is taking five classes, and maintains a 3.5 GPA.
