ABSTRACT

It may be difficult to read other people's thoughts and intentions, but feelings and moods are much easier to pick up. The former may not be openly expressed, but the latter always are. Emotional contagion happens at conscious, unconscious, and at subliminal levels. It is a well-documented phenomenon, albeit the underlying principles are only beginning to be understood. Fear, the strongest human emotion, transmits mainly subliminally via specific body odors whereas “happiness chemosignals” appear to be involved in how good vibes are passed on between people, and how those signals affect human physiology and cognition at a subliminal level. Positive and negative emotions subliminally transmit from leaders to followers, and vice versa.
