ABSTRACT

Conventional leadership wisdom has it that excellent team performance is achieved by putting the best people in one team and monitor the results. Yet, team performance is not the sum of the performance of its parts. Scientists have discovered that under the right conditions, people's brains connect without the intermediary of our senses. Skilled leaders promote inter-brain connectivity between team members and it is the degree of connectivity that separates excellent from average team performance. New technologies stimulate the brain to enhance cognitive performance, such as attention, perception, memory, reasoning, or communication skills, but also physical performance and resilience. Moreover, they can connect brains of people, “welding” people together to form high-performance teams.
