ABSTRACT

Men who have committed sexual offenses are prohibited from engaging in certain behaviors while incarcerated or on supervision. However, once their incarceration or community supervision ends, some clients may struggle with ambivalence about engaging in potentially risky behaviors that could lead to a lapse and ultimately a reoffense. The concept of dialectical abstinence is introduced in order to avoid a potential lapse. The chapter concludes by teaching clients how to complete a relapse prevention plan. Participants and skills trainers are encouraged to share their insights from treatment and provide feedback and suggestions.
