ABSTRACT

Chapter 6 discusses the CALM and CLASP skills. These skills focus on healthy sexual practices with potential intimate partners. Each skill is discussed in detail to ensure clients have an understanding of appropriate behavior, and to reduce their risk of placing themselves in a potentially problematic situation and ultimately reoffending. Additionally, this chapter introduces clients to the concept of a sexual schema, and the various factors that shape individuals’ thoughts, feelings, and behaviors regarding sexuality. Clients are encouraged to critically examine their own cognitive schema to develop a more nuanced understanding of factors that have led to their perceptions of their own sexuality, and sexuality in general.
