ABSTRACT

This chapter illustrates the presence of multiple plans within a city and multiple agencies responsible for their implementation. All cities have a statutory Master/Development Plan. The cities also have the sectoral plans prepared to source funds from the national-level missions/programmes launched for urban renewal and development. This chapter assesses whether the spatial coverage, timelines, and contents of sectoral plans prepared and the statutory plan of the city concur or synchronise. The analysis is limited to the transport and housing sectors and the last prepared statutory plans of the five cities, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Bengaluru, and Jaipur.
