ABSTRACT
We decided to stretch our legs before dinner and having spotted movement on a far slope of the mountain, we headed that way. As we drew closer, we could see that it was a wolverine and a bear seemingly in mortal combat. The bear was by far the bigger animal, but the wolverine wasn't giving up, and we realized that the bear was very close to her den. She must have had cubs in there and was fighting to keep the bear away from them. That wolverine had real guts.
