ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a summary of the findings of the study which led to this book. It presents the forces which have been involved in constructing and shaping the Jordan myth. Next, the myth’s correspondence with Campbell’s concept of the monomyth and Jewett and Lawrence’s concept of the American monomyth is discussed in terms of the myth’s structure and mythemes included. Finally, the chapter offers concluding remarks on the genesis and the role of modern-day sports myths.
