Introduction

An outline for the book is presented by giving an overview of the challenges of dealing with climate denialism in the United States. The five chapters are briefly summarised. Chapter 1 charts the history of science denialism in gene, the emergence of climate denialism specifically, and how #ClimateBrawl came about. Chapter 2 discusses the introduction of climate science to Washington from the Second World War to the administration of President Reagan, and Chapter 3 examines the arrival of climate denialism during the presidency of George H. W. Bush which has continued to this day. Chapter 4 covers the leading members of the “denial cabal,” the hard-core climate deniers among the political elite. The last chapter illustrates the climate denial propaganda by the energy-industrial complex and the climate brawls that arose to challenge it.
