ABSTRACT

Psychophysiology is a broad field in which there are attempts to accomplish many purposes. Some purposes have to do strictly with functioning of organs and systems within the body, neighboring on physiology. In addressing the question of the nature of the human mind, contemporary psychologists are busily engaged in efforts to directly measure the higher mental processes with psychophysiological techniques. A distinction between psychophysiology and physiological psychology becomes immediately apparent. Psychophysiology is the science which concerns the physiological activities which underlie or relate to psychic functions. Psychophysiological techniques have been astutety applied in the measurement of covert events in our study of internal information-processing systems during what have been traditionally called mental processes.
