ABSTRACT

The application process should begin once a prospective candidate chooses a university program for their doctoral degree. Each university’s process may include GRE scores, recommendation letters, and a writing sample. All universities expect official transcripts and a fully completed application. If the university expects a writing sample, it is recommended that the prospective candidate practice writing in an academic voice and professionally organize the sample. It is also recommended that the prospective candidate prepare for a possible interview with program faculty and leadership so they can communicate effectively about how they will use this degree to further their knowledge and expand the research on their area of interest. This chapter will share the application process for getting accepted into a doctoral program.
