ABSTRACT
Risley left Calcutta to take up his post as assistant commissioner in Gobindpur (Govindpur) subdivision of Manbhum district in April 1880. He would remain in Manbhum or the neighbouring Hazaribagh district for the next four years, but for much of this time, as in later years, there is no clear information about where Elsie was living.
