ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces the research design of this study. A mixed-method approach was adopted. The consistency parallel method was utilized to explore the relationship between domestic Chinese university students’ experiences of internationalization at home and their intercultural competence. There are two parts to this research. Specifically, in the quantitative part, this study developed the tool of College Students’ Intercultural Competence Survey 2.0 and collected data from more than 2,600 students from three Chinese universities. Multiple and hierarchical linear regression models are used to analyze the data. In the qualitative part, data and materials were collected through semi-structured interviews. A total of 26 students were interviewed, and inductive and deductive methods were adopted to analyze these data and materials.
