ABSTRACT

This chapter illustrates an overall discussion based on quantitative results and qualitative findings to answer the central question: “How do Chinese students develop intercultural competence at Chinese universities?“ By comparing and integrating different results and findings, the study suggests that domestic Chinese university students’ experiences of internationalization at home significantly impact their intercultural competence. Notably, these Chinese students’ experiences of language learning, faculty internationalization, course learning, and extracurricular activities are relatively effective in improving intercultural competence. Family background and past international experiences are also more likely to affect domestic Chinese university students’ intercultural competence.
