ABSTRACT

The challenge in promoting inclusiveness in culturally diverse schools stems from the absence of vision and practices encompassing the values of acceptance, respect, and equity. In line with this book’s proposition on culturally strategic leadership, this chapter considers prominent leadership styles deemed to be effective in leading in a multicultural school, especially in modelling expectations and inspiring motivation. Transformational leadership is globally acknowledged as a widely used style by leaders in industries worldwide. In this chapter, the use of transformational leadership focuses on how it could be fully utilised by school leaders to influence ideals and inspire motivation in the context of multicultural schools. Findings from Malaysians schools and multicultural schools from different parts of the world are presented in this chapter to show the outcomes of transformational leadership practices on school dynamics.
