ABSTRACT

There is risk associated with many of your decisions. Staying with these decisions, especially if they are unpopular, involves courage. This principle examines the construct of courage as a skill. To this end, multiple “types” and aspects of courage are discussed in a business context, including creativity, staying the course, speaking up, transparency, doing the right thing, endurance, and going forward. The discussion also focuses on why having courage is difficult and how you can exemplify courage on a day-to-day basis in your organizational setting. Lastly, the importance of self-awareness and examination is covered through the suggestion of periodic reflection of your personal values and beliefs.
