ABSTRACT

Ever wonder why certain teams perform at a higher level? Team building is based upon member selection, goal identification, roles, accountabilities, and relationships. All of these contribute to the team member's satisfaction, morale, engagement, and productivity. In this principle, five stages of team building are discussed in a pragmatic model, from initial introduction through dissolution. Highlighted attention is given to the importance of earning trust from your team members, putting team priorities first, creating a unified team spirit, and understanding the various roles people play on a team with their correlating orientations. Psychological and behavioral engagement is also discussed as a pathway toward high performance. Properly addressing and dealing with four different types of naysayers is also covered.
