ABSTRACT

This chapter presents two attitudes opposite to the aestheticisation of management, i.e., a tendency towards kitsch and ignorance. First, the issue of kitsch is discussed through the analysis of aesthetic and non-aesthetic kitsch, i.e., occurring on the grounds of intellect, education, politics, social processes, and religion, and then leading to the analysis of the phenomenon of organisational kitsch, showing its forms, carriers, and propagators. The problem of ignorance is discussed by showing the diversity of scientific approaches to ignorance, defining the functions of ignorance, and showing the potential of ignorance management to develop ways to counteract this phenomenon in the face of the aestheticisation of management.
