ABSTRACT

It is never easy to capture in a few words the feeling of the environment in which a national broadcasting system evolves. In such a mountainous country the difficulty of getting from place to place has hindered progress and has affected the expansion and growth of the broadcasting system. It is estimated that Mexico's population will be about 71 million in 1980. Here the population density is over 100 inhabitants per square kilometre, while other large areas in the north and southwest have fewer than 10. He appoints members of his cabinet, the government of the federal district which consists of Mexico City and several neighbouring small towns and villages, the Attorney General, the judges of the higher courts and diplomatic officials. This budget clearly indicates the present policy of the Mexican government to increase state participation in the mixed economy, since 49 per cent of the total budget is now allocated to quasi-state companies.
